In this guide, we will illustrate how to conduct a chi-square test for homogeneity using Minitab on a health care dataset. When two or more independent samples of this type are obtained, a common question is whether the distributions of the counts are the same or homogeneous across the groups.
In general, when the data at hand are count data, they are often summarized in a table which we obtain by counting the number of observations occurring in a fixed number of mutually exclusive categories.
For each site, we recorded the total number of times that an activity was observed. To obtain this information, a research assistant conducted participant observation and recorded which activities were performed by various health care providers in seven different facilities. The observation of care activities provided a means to meet both of these goals.
